I always think that stationery is the first sneak peek for your family and friends as to how you plan to share your love with them when you say your “I do”.
A grand, classic venue, a stylish barn or gorgeous country meadow could sum you up as a couple and it’s great to have the papery goodies to match.
You can start with Save the Dates, a handy little way to let guests plan and save in time. Or maybe you picked a Cup Final date, or during term time, it gives your guests plenty of warning. They can be sent 1-2years in advance!
These days couples send their invites out 3-6months before the wedding. Lots of books tell you 6 weeks before, but how many friends fill their calendars faster than that!
Invites can match your venue, your style as a couple, your hobbies… So much to choose from! Once you have a venue, dress and bridesmaids colours in mind, your colour palette will probably follow on. If you are having a grand country mansion as a venue you probably won’t want invites with Bunting and hay bales and similarly if you are up for a gorgeous old rustic barn, you might use that as a starting theme.
Invites range from a simpler ‘who/ where/ when/ what time’ to invitations with little cards, the invite , guest information with accommodation, menus to pre-order, complex instructions for out of the way venues, RSVP cards and gift lists. There are plenty of choices out there !
On the day stationery can tie your theme together nicely. Table planners whether mounted in frames, perched on easels of individual cards hanging from a display, there are plenty of choices to guide your guests to the right table name, which seat to sit upon, a menu with food to tempt you, signs for Guest Books or Instagram. You can ask your stationer for most items, chat about colours, fonts to use, quality of the card used. There are so many things they can guide you through. Start by ordering samples and see what appeals!
